Zahira Case - Secretary
Assalaamu Alaikum – may Allah’s peace be with you.
My name is Zahira Case (my legal name is Joanne), and I am a revert to Islam, having embraced the faith in 1996, Alhamdulillah (All praise and thanks are due to Allah). I had the honor of co-founding Pearls of Peace in 2009 and went on to serve as the Chair of the group from 2011 until my retirement in 2024. It has been a truly rewarding journey. I now serve as the Secretary, continuing to support the group’s mission and vision in this new capacity.
Over the years, I've witnessed the profound difference our group has made in both Muslim and non-Muslim communities. Through a variety of services and activities, we've created a platform that brings people, predominantly women from all walks of life - across different faiths, cultures, and backgrounds together. These initiatives have played a pivotal role in enhancing confidence, boosting self-esteem, and fostering a deep sense of community cohesion.
I am a mother of five girls and in the past I have had my own small retail business. I have also trained as a Teaching Assistant and have completed an Islamic counselling course up to Level 3. Alongside volunteering I also work part-time as a Learning Mentor in a local secondary school where I offer support, motivation and guidance to help students overcome any barriers they may have to their learning.
Rasheedah – Fundraiser
I joined Pearls of Peace in 2014 and I have performed a variety of roles since joining the group. I am the current fundraiser and I enjoy working in the backroom providing support for all the amazing work that we do in the community.
I love the diversity that Northampton offers and I get to interact with people from different parts of the world through the activities that Pearls of Peace provides for the community.
Pearls of Peace is a truly empowering organisation with lots to offer the women of Northampton and I am proud to be a part of it.
Amina Ahmed – Community Support worker
My name is Amina Ahmad and I have 5 children. I was born in Somalia and moved to Holland in 1992 and came to the UK in 2004.
I became a committee member of Pearls of Peace in 2009 after I started attending the coffee mornings. I can honestly say, after I started working with the group my life has changed for the better and I hope we can help many more women of Northampton feel the same way.
Pearls of Peace has become a big part of my life and I love the group and what we stand for.
